Point Contact Germanium Diode 1N34A
This point-contact semiconductor uses a germanium junction for low-level signal detection and low-current electronic operation. Its junction characteristics allow detection and demodulation of small RF, AM, and audio signals, while its forward voltage varies with test current, temperature, individual device characteristics, and measuring equipment.

Applications and Benefits:
- Crystal radio receivers
- AM and RF signal detection
- Audio signal detection
- Detector and demodulator circuits
- Low-current rectification
- Educational electronics projects
Caution:
Handheld digital multimeter diode-test readings are approximate observations and are not guaranteed fixed values. Forward voltage is not a fixed identification value and depends on test current, temperature, the individual diode, and the multimeter used. The published 1.00 V value is a maximum measured at IF = 5 mA and TJ = 25°C; it does not mean the diode should measure 1.00 V on a handheld multimeter. Digital multimeters generally test diodes at substantially lower currents, so readings near 0.20 to 0.30 V are not considered abnormal for this product. Applications requiring a specific forward voltage at a specific current should test the diode under the actual operating conditions of the circuit.
